Quarterback: Sam Darnold
Darnold bounced back last week beating the Giants and scoring two touchdowns. He didn’t tear up the Giants by any means but that’s because Le’Veon Bell went off. Washington unlike the Giants has a good defensive line, so expect Darnold to be airing the ball out, and effectively.
Proj: 275+ yards/3 TDs/1 TO
WR1: Demaryius Thomas
Thomas had a nice little week against the Giants, and if my projection is on point for Darnold, his main target should be this guy. Thomas when given opportunity, can ball. I expect him to explode this week going against one of the worst secondaries in the league.
Proj: 7 REC/120+ yards/1 TD
WR2: Diontae Johnson
Denzel Ward will be ghosting JuJu the whole game, leaving it to be a rookie on rookie matchup. I don’t think Greedy Williams will be able to hold the physical and agile Johnson, ultimately being nightmarish for the Browns secondary. He WILL have a big game.
Proj: 6 REC/100+ yards/2 TDs
RB1: Derrius Guice
Guice will finally be returning from injury after hurting his knee in Washington’s game opener. This is definitely a risky pick considering Adrian Peterson is the other running back, and it seems that the Jets run defense is pretty good. They held Saquon Barkley in complete check last week, despite this, I do believe the former LSU Tiger will break out.
Proj: 15+ touches/110+ yards/1 TD
RB2: Brian Hill
Last week the Falcons shocked the Saints beating down on them for their second win of the season. That was largely due to an efficient running game. Devonta Freeman had huge holes all game. Then Hill came in and gashed their defense again. His running wasn’t that efficient based on the stats, but that was only because Atlanta was running the clock down. With Freeman down with an injury (again…) Hill will get the majority of the carries. Expect a sneaky good game from Hill. He is a start this week.
Proj: 20+ touches/100+ total yards/1 TD
Flex: J.D. McKissic
The Lions have always enjoyed using running backs that can catch the ball out of the backfield. McKissic is a converted receiver into running back, and over the last few weeks has filled in relatively well for Kerryon Johnson over the last few weeks. This is a shot in the dark really, definitely a deeper league start.
Proj: 10+ touches/50+ total yards/1 TD
TE: Noah Fant
After breaking out against the Browns two weeks ago, I think finally Fant will be treated as a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. Vic Fangio will likely experiment with him this week on offense, maximizing his touches. It should be a nice week for the rookie.
Proj: 7 REC/90+ yards/2 TDs
K: Ka’imi Fairbairn
Deshaun Watson is a good quarterback… simple as that. He will drive the ball down the field every drive and will give Fairbairn extra-point kicks, and field goals.
Proj: 3 XPM/2 FGM
Defense: Atlanta Falcons
This is my boom or bust pick of the week. The New Orleans Saints came in last week thinking it’d be a cakewalk for their offense… it wasn’t. Either last week was a fluke or all that defense needed was a new game plan and coordinator. It was like night and day. Time to see if the Falcon defense is legit against quite possibly the most dynamic player in the league.
Proj: 7-10 points allowed/1 INT/4 sacks/1 FF
