What's wrong with the Atlanta Falcons?

Ever since the collapse in Super Bowl 51 against the New England Patriots, the Atlanta Falcons haven’t been able to recover.

The once higher-powered offense looks lackluster, and the defense continues their struggles after a week five loss to the Houston Texans. Atlanta now sits at 1-4 and looks beyond dysfunctional. With a former MVP, proclaimed best receiver in the league, an arguable top 10 running back, and two pro-bowl offensive linemen you’d expect more from this offense.

To tack along with that, defensively on paper, they are stacked. Defensive lineman Grady Jarrett and Takk McKinley, linebackers Deion Jones, and Devondre Campbell, and in the secondary Desmond Trufant, Ricardo Allen, and Damontae Kazee this defense says impenetrable.... yet it’s quite the opposite.

The question moving foward for this team, must be coaching. Does there need to be an change?

Dan Quinn cleaned house last off-season because of a 7-9 record, which in my eyes shouldn’t have even happened. Last year for the Dirty Birds they suffered a ridiculous amount of injuries to the defense. Despite the offense's best effort, they couldn’t overcome how bad the defense was. Quinn fired his coordinators, Steve Sarkisian (offensive) and Marquand Manuel (defensive) regardless of the circumstances

Sarkisian finally had the offense running, and Manuel was short on talent after all his play-makers went down with injuries. To fault the coordinators was blasphemy.

Coming into this season, it was promised to be different. All the players back from injury, Quinn now running the defense and Dirk Koetter back calling plays in Atlanta everything was looking up. Unfortunately for the fans, they were lied too.

Coach Quinn needs to get this team together fast, or his ‘Brotherhood’ will be no more. The phrase ‘In Brotherhood we trust, In Brotherhood we fight, In Brotherhood we rise’ will be truly tested the remainder of this 2020 season. Time will tell if this team can fight back into playoff contention, or if they'll keep sinking with there aging veterans.
