Coming into the 2019-2020 NBA season, it’s got to be one of the most anticipated NBA Finals in years since the Golden State Warriors will likely not make it. The Western, and Eastern Conference are wide open.
Last year the Dubs faced the Portland Trailblazers in the Western Conference finals with Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Demarcus Cousins. Super-Team. Now that Durant has departed to the Brooklyn Nets and Cousins is now an LA Laker, Golden State will only have Curry and Green since Thompson will be injured for most of the season. They did add D’Angelo Russell, but his impact will be nowhere close to what KD, and Klay did for them.
I believe now, that there is a team that can overtake the Dubs from there five-year NBA Finals tenure.
The LA Clippers added two-time NBA Finals MVP, Kawhi Leonard, and six-time all-star Paul George this offseason which automatically makes them contenders despite the roster around them.
Leonard single-handedly took the Warriors down in the Finals last year, and now with PG-13 by his side, it’s kind of like Batman and Robin. Arguably the two best, all-around defenders in the league, and Patrick Beverley... on the same team. Defensive juggernauts.
For the Eastern Conference, since Lebron left last season it’s open for the taking. On one hand, you got stacked teams, Philidelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets but there’s one thing those teams don’t have. It's name... Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Antetokounmpo is a game wrecker. A miss match for every team. One-on-One, no one in the league can guard him. The Milwaukee Bucks fell to the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference Finals last season, but now Toronto doesn’t have Leonard. There should be nothing stopping the 2018-2019 NBA MVP this season.
Prediction: Clippers vs Bucks
Bucks in 6
